Before we begin, I have to say, I would have never imagined to one day hear 50 talking about equity and stocks. It really blew my mind, because in the front-end—we see 50 Cent, The Gangster Rapper, the guy who cheated death after being shot 9 times. In the back-end—is who we don’t see, Mr. Jackson, The Genius.
Why read a book by 50 Cent?
When it comes to success, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is the man you want to shut-up and listen to. With his success as an artist, actor, investor, television producer, and entrepreneur—the man has seen it all in every aspect of life and in business. A rule of thumb, when you find yourself to be present in front of someone who has a lot of success, it’s not the end-result/the success you should pay attention to, but HOW that status was obtained, because with great success, always and forever comes from many failures.
What makes this book unique?
The book is easy to understand, and that’s important, because it gets the message across without congesting the lines between the reader and the message that’s being shared. I grew up in a rough neighborhood. You know, the rough neighborhood you hear most rappers talk about. Well, if I would have read this book when I was 12 or 13 years old, it would have changed my mentality, and would have encouraged me to chase my dreams sooner—I truly mean that. Nonetheless, Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter can be applied no matter your background or present status in life.
3 Lessons You’ll Learn in Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter:
Negotiating
I think it’s safe to say that everyone reading this has negotiated once in their life. You might have negotiated with your parent(s) to let you stay out longer, negotiated your wage/and or salary with your boss, or negotiated with that guy or girl that agreeing to go out with you on one date will have no ties if they decide you are not the one. On a serious note, 50 Cent talks about negotiations he has dealt with in his personal life and in business (ever negotiated an 8-figure contract?). Negotiating the wrong way can cost you millions of dollars, especially if you let your ego get in the way. In this book, 50 Cent teaches you the best practices when negotiating.
Work Ethic vs. “You can find me in the club, bottle full of bub…”
Finding you in the club with a bottle full of bub. Is this you? Does it remind you of someone? You might learn more about 50 Cent than you ever had in this book. It might even make you put down that bottle of bub, and audit your life. This lesson is absolute priceless, because it may expose flaws in your life that may demand attention and change. Did you know that 50 Cent doesn’t smoke or drink (he does drink in VERY RARE occasions). Can’t believe it? 50 goes on to explain that drinking and smoking pot can alter with your focus and state-of-mind. It can even be damaging to your work ethic as it becomes a “crutch” to help you get things done, at least that what those people believe. Whoa 50, they weren’t ready for that. Evolve or Die
In the past, I’ve worked for small to mid-size companies, side-by-side with their Founder & CEO. They were successful, but I always imagined how big and more successful they could have been if they evolved with today’s world; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc. Not a doubt in my mind that these companies could have surpassed the competition, and could have dominated their sector in the industry. Please note, I personally brought ideas to the table, even made presentations about what it can do for us as a whole, but it was bypassed over-and-over. It was never brought up again. Anyways, I’ll save all of this for a different blog post. Let’s get back to Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter.
50 Cent teaches you the importance of evolving and adapting with tomorrow’s world. Let me give you an example: Have you ever wondered about that one singer, rapper, or actor you once listened to all the time, but one day you realized you don’t hear from them anymore? I can think of a few off the top of my head. Makes you wonder, what ever happened to them? Well, more than likely they didn’t evolve, which lead to their career drying up, and some even trying to milk what’s left of their career. 50 talks about how to evolve as the world does with his own life experiences, and how not to plateau, which is usually caused by being closed-minded.

I couldn’t be more grateful than I am when someone like 50 Cent takes the time to write a book to help individuals like you and I, because face it—he really didn’t have to do it in the first place, and since he did, you have to take advantage of the knowledge that is being shared.
